Almunia wants to be English keeper!

I'd heard rumours of this before but just seen in the Metro today him confirming that he's trying to get a UK passport! It could happen as early as January next year and he said he would see if he was called up!!

Not sure about this at all actually. Obviously it happens in rugby but football has been more sacrosanct hasn't it?

I think it's silly but I think it's very hard to get round due to the law. I guess if they have a UK Passport then they are eligible to play for England/Scotland/Wales/N.Ireland. If I was CEO of the FA I'd be straight over to South America and start handing out UK Passports to all the kids that are good at football.
