Who really holds the power in F1

Considering the Midget sold 75% of his share of F1 and then duly hid the money in offshore banks so the British Tax man could not touch it, how does he still seem to be - in the publics eye - the most powerful man in F1.
Who really owns F1 as we know it today and why are they not showing their faces and working with the teams to stop the Midget and The Spanker from making the whole sport a farse before a wheel has turned this year.
As a long term fan, I would be more than happy for all teams if they were to breakaway from the Midget/Spanker and run their business themselves. They could apoint a comittee to oversea the day to day running without the need for the aforementioned pricks from sticking their noses in.
Surely the time is now right, with all teams and drivers showing a united front...

As a long term fan, I would be more than happy for all teams if they were to breakaway from the Midget/Spanker and run their business themselves. They could apoint a comittee to oversea the day to day running without the need for the aforementioned pricks from sticking their noses in.

and I think the answer about control is very much in flux between spankie and the poison dwarf.
whist I agree, the teams should get some spine and walk away and kick the FIA into touch, the fall out of this will screw an awful lot of things NON F1 up badly..
I guess the proper way to do this is for the national bodies to grow some backbone and represent their members/licence holders/countries views (like they didn't last year).

All this lot own, is the commercial rights. They receive income from TV rights, licensing deals and circuit sponsorship (Allsports Ltd).
The only power they have is the ability to lobby and leverage things that they deem appropriate. They cannot implement anything themselves as such.
Mosley owns nothing. He is head of the FIA who remain responsible for rules and regulations, safety etc, not just for F1 but for motorsport in general.
His power is also limited. The changes that FOG lobby for have to be agreed not by Max alone but by the voting group within the FIA.
Collectively – and in the true spirit of politics – B & M may have influence but actually very little “power”.

It's called PR. Specifically, ensuring the press say what you want them to say as much as possible. Anybody of his ilk worth their salt would and do do the same - in any sport (Manchester United spring to mind).
He is responsible for the commercial well-being of teams, sponsors, investors, TV companies and many others so to have the press bad-mouthing him and the sport would be to shirk his responsibilities.
The fact that MM is still in post is as much to do with PR as it is politics
