When ignition is switched on all lights glow as expected, the 'oil can' a solid red. Once the engine is started the oil can changes to yellow for a few seconds or maybe up to a minute or two before going out. Oil level is fine according to the dipstick, though rather black and maybe a little thin. Don't have the service record to hand so don't know when it was last serviced but it has a spotless dealer history. When I switch on I'm advised inspection service due in c. 5,000 miles.
So ... is my yellow oil can anything to worry about or par for the course?

it's a duff sensor, mines always done it too, must get it changed sometime, they are about £60 and look easy enough to do when getting an oil change
