I changed mine at 24K because it juddered. There wasn't much wear though, looks like it would do 100K easy.

That depends entirely on the driver, and driving style.

Never ever had to replace a clutch in any car I've owned...but my CV8 clutch isn't too happy after a rather, er, 'brisk' departure yesterday. (45k miles).

It smelled pretty bad for a while, and definitely feels weak now.

No spare cash at the mo, so gently does it for a while.

At least I won't wear my rear tyres out quite as fast...

That sounds cheaper than a new clutch, but can you explain why it helps? (If its slipping, I assumed either the plate is glazed or I've lost clamping pressure)

Is there some exotic royal purple nectar I need or is boggo Dot4 ok?

Cheers.

halfords dot4, sounds like you have burnt the fluid rather than fked the plates. Guarantee it, no money back mind.

Get a syringe, syphon out the current stuff. Clean the cap, put new stuff in, put cap on, pump vigorously say 20 times in quick succession, drain out fluid and repeat a few times until it stays a nice golden syrup colour. Make sure there is no debris in etc.

only thing i'd change from stig suggestion is to use some decent 5.1 fully synthetic to increase the boiling point and reduce water absorption over dot 4

whether you go dot4 or 5.1 just make sure you do not use dot 5.
