Monbiot signing books in Canada
Discussion
So Monbiot has flown to Canada to promote his book "Heat".
I suppose we can expect the sceptics to start spluttering about his hypocrisy in flying. But let's do a quick and dirty cost benefit analysis. If, by flying to Canada and by signing books, Monbiot persuades just one person to change their lifestyle to produce say 100kg of CO2/year for the rest of their life, then that far outweighs the marginal CO2 produced by his scheduled flight.

I'm confused; however, a) what are the chances of Monbiot throwing himself over a couple of baby seals to stop them being clubbed to death by the Canadians whilst he's out there.....and b) how much do the clubs cost? - I'd like a good one, with a decent grip and maybe lead-weighted.I suppose we can expect the sceptics to start spluttering about his hypocrisy in flying. Who let him in again...?

Care to elaborate?
You're not very bright and easily led.If Monbiot, the dreadful excuse for a human being that he is, is serious about the environment, as his book suggests he is, he would have released this as an Ebook on the internet and set himself up a Paypal account.
This would save his "CO2 emissions" from trekking the planet, would save a few trees in the process, and would save an awful lot of chemicals used in the commercial printing, which I'm sure someone somewhere has labeled "environmentally unfriendly".

Vancouver and back is going to produce ~2000kgs of CO2 per person.
So to outweigh that, one person would have to reduce their output to 100kgs per annum (highly unlikely) and keep it there for 20 years.

This is of course based on the assumption that anyone would listen to Monbigot.
Er sorry Plotloss: you've got it wrong: they would have to reduce it BY 100kg/year for 20 years not TO 100kg/year.So to outweigh that, one person would have to reduce their output to 100kgs per annum (highly unlikely) and keep it there for 20 years.

Still, thanks for the funny story.
