Why if the weight distribution of the Vantage is virtualy 50/50 front and rear do the tyre pressure vary from front to back. Has anyone here tried experimenting with altered pressures, my 911 responded well to alterations in front to back balance

I have wondered about this too... my 928GTS had a similiar configuration to the Aston with gearbox at the rear and 50/50 (ish) weight distribution, and the recomended tyre presures were 36 psi all round...

I wouldn't mess around with pressures. The factory recommendations should be just fine for public streets. If you are tracking your car, well that is a different story then biggrin

they are different sized tyres maybe?

its quite common for some cars - on Elises, that have different sizes front to rear, you have different pressures

Good point Bogie but why then does the tyre with the largest cross-section, the rear, require the highest pressure?

I would say because higher pressure at the rear cures understeer.

All cars are different. The type of rear suspension, the way the suspension is set up, the tyre and wheel sizes, the expected loads and where they'll be in the car, desired handling traits etc.

As mentioned above, for road use I wouldn't mess with them unless you know what you're doing. Tyre pressures really do make a lot of difference to the way a car drives.
