How do they compare to Omega?
Reliable? Well-built?
Some do look a bit bling but their SuperOcean and Colt range look more acceptable.
I tried on a Seawolf Avenger this lunchtime. I found it well fitting (despite its size) and excellently made - certainly a match both for the Sub LV and Panerai PAM00088 which I have only recently sold. I know they do not hold their value as well as some makes, but then I am expecting a 25% discount on a BNIB from an AD so that offsets some of the depreciation. Not had nor wanted a Breitling before, but I think I shall go for it.Reliable? Well-built?

I recently bought an Aerospace Ti. (currently on the Ti bracelet but will be changing it to a Diver Pro Strap) Lovely watch, going to swap it around with my Seamaster each day. Will try and get photos of both up on here soon if people want to see them?
I think you are right, some of the other Breitlings that were on display looked ridiculously large (though I do have girl's wrists!) and very "blingy" but others were understated. I got the Aerospace for that reason, it is understated and I prefer my watches like that.
The Colts look very understated and there was also an Avenger (I think) which had a dark brushed look. That looked great in my opinion.

Looked fab.
I love the super ocean heritage, probably because it doesn't look remotely similar to any of the other breitlings.... I have an Aerospace and a Navitimer
Titanium watch / bracelet with blue face...
Black face Navitimer, with black leather strap and deployment clasp...
I've had the Aerospace for ten years, and until I was recently bought the Navitimer, wear it every day - it's been hit by cricket balls when batting, been in the sea / swimming pool and taken a battering. Never broken, but had 2 batteries in that time - never let me down though.
Perhaps not to all tastes, but I love them.

I just tried on a superocean yesterday afternoon. I liked it a lot. Base ones are selling here in the US starting at about $2300 from an AD. Reliable? Well-built?

One of my all time favs is a Navitimer, as per described. As I have a B&R, a Zenith, a prototype TAG, a TAG, a Breitling Hercules, a few Oakleys, Omega (etc), might make you realise just how much I think of them.
I WANT.
What's a prototype TAG? Any pics? Where does one acquire such a piece?I WANT.

Thanks for the replies.
What were the Superoceans and Colts like (in terms of quality) from about 8 years ago, then?
I had my superocean for 10 years and it took all the world could throw at it - motor racing, swimming, golf and whatever life threw it's way. After 10 years it had a small chip on the glass and that's all but was sadly stolen in a break in. They are tough, very tough, and accurate to go with it. Never serviced, just went on without complaint. What were the Superoceans and Colts like (in terms of quality) from about 8 years ago, then?

I've wanted one of those for years....in fact, it's the watch that a few years back kicked started my interest in watches again. Still have every intention of owning one. I have to scratch that particular itch.Very, very envious here!
I'm a lucky man - Aerospace bought by my parents, and a Navitimer by my good lady. Might buy one myself one day!
I've had my B1 since 2001,
I love it, and have a similar tale to Podie as to what the watch has been thorough.
Did have one problem when the seals weren't done properly after a battery change in 2008.
Watch stopped working & mised up with the hands going mad.
Went back to supplying jeweller (who's handled both battery changes) and after a bit of too-ing & fro-ing I paid the difference between the battery change & a full service (c. £100), and got a fully rebuilt, cleaned polished watch back.
I'm very impressed with the service received.
Mine looks exactly like the one in the pic, apart from mine has B-1 under the Bretling text on the face - the one in the pic has 1884
