Most would recommend either an x-pipe, kiss pipe or h-pipe from the performance perspective (mild improvement), but they do say that the "crossover" does quieten it slightly. Be great if you could hear both alternatives.

I have a boxed 2/5" full magnaflow x-pipe for sale if you want it, for what it cost me. It would slot striaght in after the first flange.

You don't need to put headers on, a cat-back with less silencing on will do the job. Theres another thread on here with someone else who is doing his own exhaust.

noise wise will it sound right with no cross over or like 2 4 pots?

H-pipe; old school muscle car sound.
X-pipe; slightly higher, raspier tone (more European?)
No balance; think 'hotrods with side pipes', but still not 2x fourpots. You only get that from a flat-plane crank V8 (Ferrari/ TVR) yuck

Andy,
I take it that you have heard what a (Wortec)cat back sounds like?
If not you are more than welcome to listen to mine if it helps to make your mind up - I too live in Northants, so its not that far away.

I hate the sound of the X pipe on my '55, and I hated it on the Camaro. They were there to stuff the wideband in, and maybe get a bit more power (but probably not enough to worry about). Each to their own, but it ruins the noise for me.
