Well as of this evening I am now the pround owner of a new toy.....a 2005 Azure Blue M400 complete with Roush package. Thanks Carl - top bloke thumbup.

Had its full 4 year service yesterday and needs a new actuator and ball joints (top mounts have cracked) but apart from that a comment on the floor (fine at the moment) it was faultless.

Still trying to work out the least embarrassing way to get in and out without showing my age. Obviously pulling together a list of modifications as it was bought to drive hard and play with - probably not too much on the power side unless I get really bored.

Now at the moment I have various bits of kit from Pro Alloy to order and I need to sort the rear lights but besides Noblemods the options appear severely limited.

What have you guys done to you cars that have made a difference to your enjoyment (interior, exterior or under the clams?). I like gadgets so will probably try and install Homelink for the garage doors as I use it in my other toy.

Also what have any of the track cars done regarding padding of their rolls bars - don't fancy bouncing my helmet of the bar over the door at any level of force.

Get ready for lots more questions.....

david with the higher state of tune have you thought about stengethening the box and maybe some gearbox cooling ? For a cct car all reasearch seems to have it down as the next weakest link

I have also compiled a list of niggles/weaknesses that others seem to have suffered... mail me for details

twerlie, would be really grateful if you could expand upon any of these if they are deemed necessary/preventative i.e. not just for more BHP, but for fixing design limitations or potential issues

The only thing necessary IMHO is the exhaust due to the original being a crap design with an annoying bracket made of chocolate!
Plus it's always good to get your car on the rollers (preferably with Trevor Jasper) to check things are set up correctly, especially if the car has had any modifications.
The rest is just personal things that are problem preventatives or slight performance modifications etc.

All IMHO of course.... wink

Are the top mounts the ones with small grub screws on the side?
If so they were a factory re-call so if you are lucky you might get them replaced F.O.C. but do get them done A.S.A.P. as they can go really suddenly and cause a lot of grief.

Exactly as F.C. says... also need to check the rear ones. All 4 of my blocks were cracked, and I know of someone who was driving when the n/s front block failed collapsing the front suspension.

Below is a list of things I've had done to my Nob since delivery...

..IMHO, Lee Noble produced a near perfect product out of the box (and, at any price) - just drive it and grin! biggrin

I've installed electric windows in a M400 for one of our customers. It's kind of nice to be able to raise/lower the passenger's window while belted in the driver's seat. Very little difference in weight - the electric mechanism added maybe 2 or 3 pounds per door over the stock manual setup. Not an easy install - fabrication and welding was needed to install the mechanism, and it needed a lot of adjusting to get everything to work properly.

Anti skull-fracture solution on roll cage - buy some hot water pipe lagging from a DIY store (the tube type stuff with a hollow cross-section) and attach with some velcro. Works perfectly for me.
