Last year there were over hundreds Lotus Elise S1s In the for sale section, now they seem to spend barely a few days before they get sold. I thought we were meant to be in the middle of the credit crisis How come everybody is buying cars so quickly??

Don't know if it's related, but I was in a dealers the other week and the sales guy advised they were actively looking for S1s over the S2 as they were bang on the money in the current climate!

Don't wish to overdo the pocket pyschology, but the present financial crisis and not least the exaggerated emphasis on 'the end is nigh' by the media, can lead to people (at last, most would say) realising life is short, so why not get that dream car today, instead of always waiting until tomorrow......

I sold my 1 owner, 9 year old, low miler almost overnight (15 hours) to a UK buyer last Sunday but had 3 European offers... It all happened so quickly I had not emotionally adjusted to its loss. I've now found a new mistress though to help with the bereavment process.

Be thankful that the S1 is not legal in the USA... given both the collapse of sterling and the recent decline of the Euro vs. the dollar, all the Elises would end up Stateside...

Going back to a previous thread about how Lotus would survive in a credit crunch - well the Americans may be hurting as well but any Federalised Lotuses are going to look *very* cheap compared to normal right now... Got to be good for Lotus if they can build enough...

cat d's.. c's.. b's even maybe a's...skys the limit...time to get those au prefix, management press cars, driving school potential moneypits out i reckon....the euros wont know any different...

it is strange because a few years ago when the pound was strong i think i tried to import a euro car but the bureaucracy and naysayers were too strong...
