Oh my God, change that opening sequence....

I really don't like the opening sequence of BBC's new coverage.

Well done for bringing back the chain, but I am afraid the visuals do not nothing to compliment the evocative nature of music in anyway. It's like watching two people playing Gran Turismo with the chain playing in the background. The whole thing feels like it has been designed to appeal to the Too Fast, Too Furious fan culture.

What a lost opportunity to do something decent to get you in the mood for the racing. This isn't what I was hoping to see on a Sunday afternoon.

Yeah I was a bit disappointed with it too. It's the most predictable sequence they could have done. ITV never managed to get that right either (and they never even found a decent theme tune).

At the end of the day, does it really matter, regardless of what they do we'll know it off by heart within 3 races and won't take a blind bit of notice of it?

Nope, it doesn't really matter much but I just think there's scope to do something really stirring to suit the soundtrack.

If chain was on there for nostalgia, setting mood, and atmosphere, get you revved up, then it was pointless throwing a cgi feast over the top of it, it could have been any old hip hop tune, and for moment I thought they'd borrowed a itv titles out take.

Usually BBC get there music visuals so right, look at top gear, invariably excellent for music for car porn. The chain for me, ought not to have been brought back, but if you are use it properly, it's a slow burn to crescendo, those titles were one paced modem tune electronicfodder, which is like beeps and squeaks like moby.

They should have shown some old school footage of Mansell & Senna side by side at 200mph, and other classic F1 moments, throw in a few Murray quotes, few shots of Hamilton, there you go. At least The Chain is back...

You'd be amazed the number of people I know who are only happy when they are moaning.

I'm just happy with the level of coverage we're now getting. (Even though it cost me £60 for a PlayTV gizmo for my PS3 so I can record the practice sessions all season. )

I guess that's the best answer as BBC don't have any footage since ITV took over coverage in mid 90's

Is the opening sequence CGI because the beeb are lacking the rights to broadcast recent F1 footage? If so, hopefully that will gradually sort itself out after a few races.

I'd have thought Bernie owns the rights to all previous footage, and that the BBC would have been allowed to use it.

After all, ITV didn't film it did they, they simply bought the right to broadcast it?

I am guessing here by the way.
