Well I know that the rear light clusters are from a MK1 4 door Mondeo but does anyone know whether the following parts are from donor vehicles or Noble specific:

- side indicator lenses (Ford Fiesta? Mk?)
- external and internal door handles?
- not sure what it is called but the hard plastic trim that pushes on top of the door card on the inside below with window?
- wing mirrors (Rover 25? - anyone tried converting them to electric?)

Also has anyone put some padding on their roll bars and if so any recommendations?

Thanks

Side repeaters are from many different cars and clear ones are available from most mod shops like Demon Thieves
I think external handles are from a Mk3 Fiesta?
Internal i think are Austin Metro?
Not sure about trim?
Wing mirrors are Rover 25 and Noblemods did an electric version for about £900 IIRC eek

Padding on side roll bars is a must IMHO and available from here: http://www.gprdirect.com/OnlineShop/Product.do?c=2...

You only need one length cut into 2

Hope this helps! wink

I have a new pair of electric Rover mirrors I was going to fit to my car.
Easy enough to wire up.
Car was gone before I had a chance to fit them.

Well having just been out for a long drive I have realised that the existing mirrors are a waste of space and move with each bump or gust of wind (not from me).

There are lots on eBay but if you want them off your hands for a modest sum then happy to oblige - just email me. Do you have the switchgear as well?

Not sure if it is still on the forum but an easy fix for the mirrors is to remove the morror glass and put tape round one of the mirror tabs. Been a long time since i did this so i am a bit vague but sure someone else will come along and offer assistance. Worked for me for a years worth of ownership

Thanks - may try that as a temporary fix. At first I thought it was my eyes from the suspension but it was certainly the mirrors moving. Even more annoying one of the speakers is not working and when you only have 2 it really screws up the sound!

So next question - are there any replacement speakers or headunits that are recommended that are a direct swap.

Don't really have one in mind - probably wouldn't want to go too crazy as it's the 4th car....say £500 otherwise I would need approval from my better half biggrin

I have these: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_components.php?...

I placed the tweeter higher up on the door card to help point the sound towards your ears. If you didn't want to cut a small hole in the door card then you could get the 2-way version the Adrian W has.

I also have an Alpine head unit with iPod control but the options are so great depending on budget.

It's worth placing a couple of bits of Dynamat behind the door speakers to help with vibration etc.

have to disagree *very stongly* with that padding

you want the proper FIA padding that is actually very hard and looks nothing like your local sponge Homebase pipe lagging

e.g. http://www.lifeline-fire.co.uk/motorsport/rollbarp...

take it from me as well... I hit the wall at Eau Rouge at 95mph on a cool down lap and my head bounced all over the cage. I suffered only mild concussion and was damm pleased that I had the proper stuff installed. Don't skimp on anything saftey, even on recreational trackdays.

I have to agree - I only have one head and want to keep it intact. I have gone for the FIA approved pieces. Small price for the piece of mind.....just in case!

Ordered 45mm which I hope is the right size.

Bet you take it out, on the road it's too hard and impractical, you'll need a crash helmet to stop you injuring yourself, I have tried both.

Bought a couple of 600mm long 45mm diameter FIA approved pads from Merlin Motorsport and if they are in the way for road use then they will get shoved behind the seat and just brought out for track days.

Scary vid....eek

I agree with your comment about not skimping. I use an Arai GP5 and a Hans divice in the Noble on track, In most big shunts in Nobles the Driver's head has hit the front or rear roll bar and not the side

FIA padding is not suitable for use on the side rollcage (above the doors) unless wearing a helmet as it's simply too hard. Sofer padding is very advisable for road use for tall drivers AND passengers; I'd go so far as to say that the car is very dangerous without it.

I don't use FIA padding in the side rollcage as it's so thick that it fouls the helmet and I find it easier to drive with my head not bent to one side all the time.

The other option is a side head restraint fitted to the seat back but this has proved impossible to fit into the space available.

I cracked my helmet on the side rollcage at Cadwell Park back in 2007 when not using padding. I have a new helmet and padding now.

It's almost inevitable that in a crash, other than completely head on, that you'll whack you're lid on that area ... unless you're short. I woudn't want anyone to repeat my mistake as I got away with it suffering only mild concussion.
