Well, SimonV8ster has been V8'less since the end of January. Since selling his second car last weekend the serious search was on for a Monaro.

Fortunatley a car turned up that seemed to tick all the boxes and represents good value for money so I've gone for it. smile Pick her up in a few days. smokin

So some simple questions to keep me occupied if I may -

1) Are the headlamps Xenons ?
2) How much are those afterburner rear lights ? (a website says 'POA' which worries me !!)
3) Am I going to get stopped by the Rozzers much ?
4) Is there any 'oddities' I need to know about ? (like you can only open the petrol flap with one leg still in the car whilst holding in the third button from the left on the dash). Don't want to get stuck somewhere looking stupid.
5) Can they run on both 95 and 99 octane gas ? Whats recommended ?

74 hrs to go. party

1) Not as standard, aftermarket if required.
2) Fish if you must........
3) Depends if you do lots of burnouts or rob banks I guess.
4) You can ONLY open the boot off the keyfob from outside.
5) 95 stock tune, 99 only if FI ir tuned much.

All the above subjective and all IMO. Good luck smile

I think most later model stuff and probably all LS2 were 98 octane recommended.
Some earlier LS1's you could run 95. In fact it was the recommended octane.
So depends on your vehicle. Usually some google action for the model year will return the requisite octane rating.
Probably VXR LS1 98 and CV8 LS1 95..

4: On mine there is a button in the glovebox that opens the boot.

Yep, agree about the boot button in the glovebox, but fron the outside it is a pain having only the keyfob.....

Its a 2005 CV8 but with the full Wortec focus pack with headers, etc. Best check with the chaps that did it I think.

I might be wrong, but i think he was being a bit cryptic. There's another way aswell, but we don't generally share the secret button functions for obvious reasons...

LS2 is fine on 95 according to the handbook. I always run on 95, when not running on LPG that is

Yeah but whats recommended? LS2 in VXR8 is 98 recommended. It works on 95, but timing is optimised for the recommended octane. So anything less will have less power and likely ping somewhat under load further dropping timing etc.
