There are some plus points. Ade/Lou has mentioned trips abroad. In fairness it is not 'LCUK' who have put these together but rather members of LCUK. As a result, it hasnt actually been necessary to be a member to enjoy them, as happened both this year and last year, where non-members took part. Having said that, I do believe LCUK has a factory visit in the pipeline for later in the year.
Mention has also been made of the AGM, which is not an event per se, but provides a day out at Gaydon if you haven't been before, as indeed does the Annual Dinner. (Actually that's the reason I didn't do the AGM or will be doing the dinner this year, because I have become tired of keep going to Gaydon, but that's another issue.)
Perhaps the bigger plus points are that the LCUK has a number of members who are very knowledgeable about the cars should you ever need to pick someone's brains (though of course you could do that on here too) and there is at least one insurance company I know of that will give you a discount on your car that more than recovers the cost of your membership (or at least it does in my case).
Apologies to anyone who feels that I should be more positive about the club, but as with so many things there are some advocates who would argue that any Lambo owner should join the Club as it's the best thing since sliced bread and, in my opinion, this viewpoint needs to be tempered somewhat.

I went to the AGM today!
I'm quite new to the club, but I found out alot today and was impressed by the positive attitude shown by the Committee. There is a definite will to make 2009 a good year for LCUK members.
On a personal note, I have also more than recouped the annual membership fee by accessing expert knowledge and opinions, and meeting really good/nice club members.
I would recommend you give it a go

There was discussion about your many photographic contributions today!
We are delighted to be able to have your picture taking services as many times as you can this year - you'll be practically the first ever 'official' LCUK photographer - it's a title worth having, ain't it?
DIW35:
Anybodies AGM wouldn't normally be much of a day out, surely they're just a 'functional' activity usually. As is clear, the National Heritage Motor Museum is, crucially, very centrally located and reasonably easy to get to for most people, admittedly the museum itself is, erm, an acquired taste. They DO serve good pastries and decent juice and cups of warm brown as well... I sampled a 'few' pastries today, the apricot one(s...) I had were delicious.
As regards the Gaydon location being an overly frequently visited one by LCUK for whatever reason - Supercar Sunday has ALWAYS been at Gaydon whether LCUK attends 'officially' or not, Auto Italia have continued to have their Autumn Italian Car Day there despite horrendous cost increases and that magazine (and just about any other UK motoring title come to that) treats us as friends and are always grateful for our input to their better standing.
As ever, we can't suit all our Members all the time - I have a growing 'suspicion' that the location of the target venue for the convoy on Day 2 of the Annual Dinner weekend this year may have changed, again - please check the next RV or the website.
We certainly acknowledge your great organisational role in some of the road trips to Sant' Agata in recent years whether they were meant to be Club events or not - how could we not?!
ADE/LOU:
There are a great many people who are both more knowledgeable and vastly more able to supply access to the ever-deepening, ever-wider lake of Lamborghini knowledge than I am or could hope to be. To quote a phrase used by Isaac Newton, "If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants."
He should've dodged that bloody apple though, look at the trouble that plummeting Granny Smith's has caused... imagine that crash landing on your Diablo's roof!
ROD X LAMBO:
LCUK can only be as good as our Members can make us be... Again, from my p-o-v, it's clear that the more input people make, the more they get from the Club in terms of the quality of their experience - it really is a case of not asking what the Club can do for you but also asking what you can do for the Club.
Your comment about the 'different-ness' of Lamborghini people suggests you are a like-minded and kindred spirit. I don't think I'm sticking my neck out by saying that in time, probably not too much time, you'd feel joining the UK's only Lamborghini Club was very much worth it.
After almost 14 years in the Club, I take comments about 'being different' and 'being intense' as something of a compliment.
Thanks very much!

Talking of which (and sorry to the OP to go off topic here) has anyone sent you a write up of last years frivolity yet? Cheers, sorry couldn't make it today. Unforseen (rather than planned) circumstances meant I couldn't make it up there. I'll try the 'official' LCUK photographer line on the nurses when I go visit Mrs RR tomorrow There was discussion about your many photographic contributions today!

Hello Rodxlambo
I'm Lynne, membership sec. and I look forward to welcoming you into the fold. Richard and I have been members for many years, but only being really active in the last few. Lambochick and I got involved in helping to re-organise how members were treated on joining or renewing but Lisa had to back down recently due to work commitments. I miss her imput alot, but I also know she is there to give me a hand in the background if I really need it. I personally think Lambo owners are individually unique, but all seem to share the same passion for the marque.
The AGM is a requirement of any club that has a membership to answer to. It is also an ideal opportunity for members to come along and have a say about what they want, get involved with an event or just to meet other members. We chose Gaydon to hold it to give a greater number an opportunity to travel to. Most of the committee did about 275 miles round trip.
We have quite a few events already in the calendar and others still to be confirmed. We are also being invited to join in with a couple of other clubs to their events. Please call if you want to chat more

Yes, was looking forward to going south to Beaulieu !
Guys, the reason Beaulieu had to be passed over was purely down to costs of a hotel anywhere in the location. Lynn spent days on the phone and computer apparently and had to give up on it.Yes, was looking forward to going south to Beaulieu !
Taking up the point about venue for the Sunday after the annual dinner, we are EXTREMELY KEEN NOT to go to Gaydon and for this reason the events team, led by Lynn Darg are desperately trying to find a suitable display/food and presentation venue in the Stratford/Warwick/Coventry areas so we can have a change from the Heritage Motor Centre. Cost has always been an issue when considering the two day event and whilst there are plenty of members who would be prepared to pay £500 a head for a spectacular hotel and some venue like Beaulieu with Leith's catering, we try to make the annual dinner more accessible to a greater number of members by controlling the costs. We have often toyed with the idea of a Grand Gala Dinner Dance in addition during the year but never received the general support for an event that does not involve the cars very much at all!
If anyone has any thoughts on a venue for Sunday 6th September 2009, please shout it out! Ant

If you are still at that "I'm looking to buy my first Lambo" stage then, personally I would wholeheartedly recommend joining LCUK in addition to posting adn asking here and on some of the other Lambo Specific Fora out there. (Although they are mostly US-oriented)
David was incredibly helpful to me and spent quite literally hours on the phone to this random person who kept calling him and asking all manner of worried-newbie question, the likes of which I am sure he has heard a thousand times.
I too have also met some great people through LCUK, Pistonheads, Petrolhead Nirvana and Scudrunners. You can never make too many friends when you are running a supercar - believe me!
Considering "the cost of membership" vs "the cost of a Lambo" vs "the cost of getting the WRONG Lambo(!)" I personally would suggest it is a no brainer

There are some passionate people within the club, there has to be or the club would cease to be. I joined in late 2007 and there was nothing of interest for me that happened in 2008, however, in 2009 there are at least two events that I have booked holiday so I can attend.
Personally I didn't get what I considered value for money for my membership in 2008, but I would not say that you cannot. I think value for money comes from the affiliates to the club and the potential savings you can make if you require their services. Being a club member does not give you value for money, it gives you access to organised events, the potential to talk people with the same love of the marque and make acquaintances and friends.
PH has more threads and more contributors, the information you can get would in my opinion rival any from LCUK, the difference is, you will not get your thread hijacked by wannabe's comments. The one criticism I have of some club members using PH, is they tend to use it to communicate to each other and have "in" jokes etc. rather than using normal email, it leaves those on the periphery not understanding what is being said and feeling left out somewhat.
