Cos they generally don't seem to understand physics and therefore they don't seem to fear having their knees where their face should be in an accident.
My sister kept on doing it - I ended up stopping the car and refusing to drive untill they were properly in the footwell

Reminds me of a friend (honest) who took his wife and kids to the seaside for the day. They arrived to find it pouring with rain so got hips to eat in the car.

Wifey is in the passenger seat, kids in the back. As the heat from the chips builds, the car steams up, revealing a perfect impression of a pair of size 5 feet on the windscreen in front of the wife, left by a lady acquiantance of said friend the evening before while she was being treated to a 'performance' by the friend.

I don't recall what he said to get out of it, but they are now divorced.

Would it be though...would the legs not be thrust upwards upon impact leaving said female in a kind of V shape? No risk of footwell crushing.

I was thinking more of if her legs were knees together and then as she jerked forward from the smash that her knees would smash into her face.

But I could be wrong though.

never done it myself and never will as it's just dangerous and also rude if it isn't your car, I certainly wouldn't like someone putting their feet up on my dashboard.

It's a practice/readiness thing.

As well as a lack of respect for your velocipede.

I think the airbag would send her knees at great velocity towards her face.

This could lead to an interesting test...

put the passenger seat as far forward as you can, and if she can still get her legs up and her feet on the dash then you know you're on to a winner!

mrs envy (who does this) says it's comfier

don't know if she'll find it comfy if the airbag goes off and she finds her knee caps fused with her forehead though
