Okay, so most people who live in Nottingham and use London Road to get into Nottingham know that for the past few years there has been a cash camera van there every so often to generate some revenue as they've clearly nothing better to do.

Well wasn't it all fun and games when they recently installed the SPECs there. So no possible need for the cash van to return.

Although...

...today, on a Sunday nevertheless, I was going into town to a drinking establishment to meet some friends. My friends in the car were commenting on how pointless they were covering sucha small section of road, and I've never seen a 'serious' accident there either.

What did we see at the end of the section of SPECs just before the lights?

A fking cash van!

Who in their right mind who think up that it was necessary to pay stloads for all those expensive SPECs, and then continue to put a van there as well.

Seriously, I don't get it.

I really would love to meet the fella who said to those blokes in that van to go out there. He must be a right wally.

Ah...must have been one of those days, then.

I believe I was caught by a tax van...

East Midlands airport business park, on the road that runs parallel to the main road, past offices on one side and the freight bit of the airport on the other side, straight, flat and half a mile-ish long.

30 limit. No vehicles. No pedestrians. Nothing but an empty road and rabbits.

And plod, van parked in an office entrance with his camera on a tripod.

Why...?

I wasn't caught, as I wasn't speeding. You'd have to be a mug to get caught on London Road. I just found it funny that they'd spent shed loads on high tech cameras, and yet still felt the need to put a van there as well.

it does beg the question about why specs / camera van on london road at all. its a 4 or 5 lane road with no houses either side. its silly because you can go down the parallel road in the meadows in excess of the speedlimit shoudl you wish, with little chance of being caught, and thats where the houses are!

Hmmm. Wide, safe road with no real need to keep to a low limit. Easy to creep a bit above there. Lots of nice easy revenue.

Yes - I wonder why there is a van there.

Perhaps the Specs were temporarily out of action? hence the camera van. But MOP wouldn't know if the Specs was inoperative.

I agree Rob, what is the point of a van in a Specs area?

Its just staggering stupidity.

I thought if they were out of action they had to display signs saying so?

Thats what they had on the M42 anyway.

Leicestershire.

Seems odd to be in the airport. Wonder if they were invited for some reason?

Was this an unmarked double cab job? White?

I think it was one of these ---->

White with horizontal red stripe down the side. Plod was on the footpath with camera on tripod at eye height...

Here's a pic...

It's on the right, in the distance, with a Transit parked this side of him, having a chat.

And that was the extent of the traffic....irked

Not any more ... it's been changed back to simply East Midlands Airport.
