Just wondering when the hardtop became standard on the 111s ? The reason I ask is that I don't use mine and was thinking of selling it, don't want to reduce my trade in value when the time comes though ?

2004 IIRC from when I was looking, when the elec windows & A/C also came with it.

Was it ever standard?

My MY04 (but on a 53) 111S came with electric windows and a/c but no hardtop.

Just to confuse things, mine is MY04 53 has elec windows and hardtop but no a/c ????

So I think I could sell it and deny all knowledge at trade in.

you would get more for a used hardtop than you ever would on trade in value anyway - sell the hardtop for £600-700 ...they always go well ...especially to new Elise owners who *think* they need one wink

I didn't bother to put the hardtop on mine this winter at all - I don't really see the point.

Totally agree, when I bought the Elise I was convinced that it would be better with the hardtop through the winter. All it managed to do was rattle and annoy me, although I do quite like the look of the car with the hardtop on.

On the new vehicle order form the a/c is specced separately (as is the leather, hood colour and metallic paint). I suspect the S2 never came within anything as a package - just trim levels and optional extras.

I had one for one winter, had it on for about 2 months ....too much hassle for little benefit to me, other than looks ....if I wanted a coupe I would have bought an Exige wink

I love the look of my Elise S2 with the hard top on, if I could fold it and put it in the boot I'd sell my soft top!!!! I don't think the 111S ever came with one as standard and as for the confusion over the air/con with or without elec windows you can spec elec windows or touring pack the T-Pack has e/w and a/c, the roof is additional (about £1000)

Hard tops have never been standard on Elises - always an option.

Definitely better to sell seperately if you are selling the car.

Should get 5-700 for a good S2 hardtop.

About to sell mine since I'm not using it.

Hard tops were standard on the S2 111S from '54 reg. When the 111R came out they used a free hardtop to sweeten the deal on the rover variant... at least that was what at 3 seperate dealers told me when i bought my 54 111S.
