Well, HWMBO has got fed up with commuting and has rented a 1 bed flat to stay in during the week.

Trying to sort out contents insurance for him, lots of places won't insure as it is not his permanent residence.

What factors define one's permanent residence?

Those places that will insure insist on classifying it as a holiday home, even though he's there at least 5 nights a week. There are so many endorsements on the policies that it makes it very expensive for very little cover (I'm getting quotes over £300 just for contents of a 1 bed flat, compared with around £100 if it was his permanent home)

Does he have to transfer everything there, electoral register, GP, bank details etc? If it does not work out, we will have move everything back in 6 months time.

Has anyone found a way around this?
