Has anyone else had problems with the ignition lock on a new Fiesta?

My daughter got a new Fiesta on Friday. It should have arrived Tuesday, but the PDI had problems with the ignition lock.

Intermittently the key wouldn't turn. New locks fitted, and the car was delivered.

Saturday we sent it back.

Same problem. You can't turn the key, stranding her.

She went straight round my mum's house to show her new car off. Mum is nearly 80 and in a wheelchair. They were both stuck.

On arrival at the dealers, the mechanic couldn't turn the key either.

So they give her a courtesy Ka. Which comes with a £2500 policy excess on its insurance. yikes

Her own policy only has a £350 excess. They then suggested she transfer her insurance onto their courtesy car.

She's been told it will be a week to fix her car, assuming they fix it properly this time.

So, is this a common fault?

I don't like the idea of my 18 year old daughter being stranded. If Ford don't sort this problem pronto, I will be looking to reject the car.

Anyone had experience of rejecting a car and can offer any advice?
