For those of you interested in the outcome of the court case regarding the crash I was involved in at the Houx Annexe in 2006.(you might take a look at the previous 2 posts http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=280... AND http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0... ) My mate, who was driving my car, has got away very lightly today. The court has decided to fine him only 300 euros! However, he also picked up a 1 month suspended sentance. Not sure how the sentance affects future insurance etc OR even job prospects. Some of you have picked up much bigger fines just for the speeding part! TAKE REAL CARE OF THE 'GIVE WAY TO THE RIGHT RULE' it still exists.

If the French court have now found yourselves guilty and Fined you , Is the way now clear for a Civil case?

IE: From the other party, against you, OR did all that get sorted by insurance?

The French were paid out by my insurance in 2006. Though in France the victims can have another bite of the cherry during the court case . They didn't turn up though! I'm still convinced there's been some dirty work.

Your right, not too straight forward. The costs of proving anything dodgy could be horendous too, then there's no guarantees.
The saga is now over legally and my mate has been very lucky. I'm still picking up big bills. Top teeth have cost £2500 to put back and the lower ones another £1500 in May. Then theres the hip replacement which I'm putting off for as long as possible! Lessons have been learnt.
Missed my chance for Le Mans this year but next year in the Noble is on. (As long as the missus finally gives it the go ahead!)
