Guys
Just to update everyone and apologise for the delay in responding. We are still very keen to get this event up and running and will hopefully have a confirmed date, time and film within the next few days.
We intend to make the date of the event June 19th from around 7.30pm so as not to conflict with the Le Mans weekend the previous week.
We have been held up over the past couple of weeks by reluctant film distributors giving us a free screening in the midst of all the summer blockbusters but also by the many hoops we are having to jump through from a marketing and corporate angle.
We will be looking at invitations and correspondance to be sent out on a new thread when the go-ahead is confirmed but we will be looking towards sports cars and supercars being the attending vehicles this year.
Please bear with us and thank you all for your patience so far!

Don't speak too soon Johnzo! No matter the weather it'll be a great evening enjoyed by all
... okay okay, so I KNOW that I am "tempting fate" here, but as you say, even if it rains then it's a fun evening (and those hooligans who do the "Leeds Tunnel Run" on the way won't get wet IN the tunnels

Dear all
It is with greet frustration and regret that this years cinema cars event now cannot take place on June 19th.
Despite a huge amount of work being put in by myself and the rest of the site team over the past 2 months, we have been left waiting and waiting on a decision to come from our Head Office, a decision which has apparently been been balanced against the popularity of the event in previous years to the decision by the distributors to bring forward one of the summers biggest films (Transformers 2) and then to not allow us a private screening.
I sincerely hope that this doesn't sound the end of this event as I have had huge fun and enjoyment organising them with the help of Gemini right back to the first gathering in 2001 with that little remembered film Swordfish!
Perhaps if the weather holds out in September we may be able to approach the corporate department once again or maybe we can look towards 2010 which has a preliminary release of Cars 2 being talked about.
Once again, huge apologies to everyone who was keen to come this year but please feel free to pass on any feedback to either myself on PH or to the cinema on Kirkstall Road who will forward on to the London office.

Never mind Paul.
Sometimes the bean counters are simply too blinkered to consider the value of PR.
They think we will all come and pay money to see Transformers 2 when, in reality hardly any of us will. We will simply wait for it to come out on Sky HD, if bother at all.
So they are not gaining any potential lost revenue ... what they are losing is a few hundred quid on food and drink but hey ho, they probably don't need the money in these times of plenty.
Thanks for trying anyway ... and I do remember Swordfish very well ... 5 cars ago that was!

Having just switched on the computer I rad this with great disappointment.

This is one of the bedrock events which has become more popular each year.
And to hold it on my birthday was going to be a thrill. I even delayed going out for a drunken lunch!
So now its a drunken lunch and no film!
Lets hope that we may be able to do something in Sept.
If not I feel that it may be that we pick another venue and continue this great gathering.
Thanks Paul for all youve done in the past. It is appreciated.
Its not often that you get sumat for nowt these days, and the bean counters seem to have interferred with your plans.
Best wishes Rich

Truth be told I'm pretty sure most of us would be happy to pay for the film, it's the gathering we go for not a free film, the chance to catch up with old friends you maybe see once a year because of work restraints is worth a few quid.
Of course the fact that the cinema gets a fair bit of attention and advertising thereof it would be nice if they were to donate a good portion of the ticket cost to charity.
