Take care on the M42
Discussion
On the Northbound side, as you go past the A45 slip on, the overhead gantry signs were displaying 'workforce in road', which of course was a total lie, plus speed limit signs set at 50. Very soon after the overhead gantry signs then display 40, then the next ones 50. There is a camera on the 40 gantry, which was flashing away merrily tonight, really coining it in. Take care.
bit of a pain them camera especially when they change as your going through them, what do you do? carry on or brake?
Also with the display / sign not noted or shown in the highway code does that make them illegal signs and therefore you could get away with a fine through a technicality? ie no white background and not round...

I was always under the impression that those signs were advisory, meaning that you didn't actually have to adhere to them. Obviously I would do as of the speed cameras in them.
You can easily tell which of the gantrys have speed cameras in them by looking at the other side of them over the opposite carriageway. If those have got cameras in then so will the ones you're about to pass under.

Shirley most if not all of them have cameras on board and they switch them on and off on various Gantry's swapping them from time to time You can easily tell which of the gantrys have speed cameras in them by looking at the other side of them over the opposite carriageway. Well that's what my S5 tells me anyway

Paul,
The cameras are in fixed locations (ie look at the opposite gantry and you can see a box with a white square in the middle covering each lane) but I do think they rotate which ones are "live". Somedays you see no flashes, others days a lot. I have to go through the whole section twice a day.
