Classic Impreza turbo upgrade question

I have a 1995 sti with a later 2.5 bottom end, FMIC etc, bespoke exhaust, manifold. Everything really except, a bigger turbo and uprated pistons. eBay throws up all sorts of potential upgrades i.e.:

But can anyone advise where I could buy a turbo and some pistons, good for around 400bhp/lbs, without breaking the bank, I'd even consider a recon turbo and heaven forbid, used pistons if they weren't worn. The current pistons are probably the weakest cast items you can buy (I'm told).

Rods there too if you need them.

As for the turbo, something like a GT30xx would probably work well on the 2.5.

Don't forget the injectors, fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator amongst other things.....if you can't deliver enough fuel to match the turbo.....Don't bother

True, it's just the injectors I need but also an uprated gearset.

The car has been off the road about a year and in that time the world's economy has gone belly up, I was rather hoping that I could find some bargain parts. But looking around it is still pretty hard to find any cheaper pistons, rods, turbos etc. either people are still buying or suppliers are sitting on their stock trying to get the prices they got before. I know the markup on performance parts is usually pretty good, I remember getting a trade quote from Andy Forrest for a turbo unit and it was £200 less than the retail price which was around £700. I guess I'm still looking at £3K:

Pistons £500, Con rods £500, Bearings £300, roller bearing turbo £1500 (GT30 maybe), bits n bobs I've missed £200...

As much as i really hate to reccomend this outfit due to their absolutely terrible comms and nobody ever on the end of the phone to speak with despite the fact he lists a number and all it ever does is ring!!, get in touch by email with Scott from flat4online. He's a pita to deal with but prices are generally pretty damn good and he runs a nice website.

Before i popped an STi8 into my WRX i was offered a 2.5 semi-closed deck short block in good nick for £500...bargain!! Thereafter i was going to strip it down and chuck in some new pistons, rods, bearings, oil pump, head studs etc. I was seriously tempted to go that route when i saw the price of flat4onlines very nice JE and Wossner pistons and Rods ad general rebuild components. Cracking pricing last year although i haven't been on there for a while and have no idea if his prices have gone up or not.

You probably already know them.
