Hi chaps,im just in the throws of buying a Exige supercharged, and was just wondering if it is possible to mess around with the milage on one as it does seem low for the year,i know thats not unheard of but there are a few other things that make me think all is not (which i would rather not go into on here). I was told that there is a senser on the front wheel that can be taken of?? Is there any way to check this out.
Thanks

thought the sensor was on the rear left wheel...dunno for sure on the new models...you could disconnect it, but youd have no speedo

whats low mileage anyway? rarely you see these cars with big miles on them to be honest

Im guessing its under 3 years old, so theres no MOTs showing the mileages between eservices?

other than that, you need to give it a good going over, check out other wear items to see if its had a hard life, just like any car really

if youre really bothered about this stuff...leave it and buy from a dealer

My car is 5 years old and covered 11,000 miles. Just doesn't get used as much as it should as is the case with many Lotus out there.

WOW !

I couldnt justify owning a car for 11K miles a year, let alone 5 years frown

I begrudged paying the yearly service bill on one of the cars this year as it had only done 6 miles since last year ...didnt feel I was getting value for money LOL wink

I had the whole dash replaced on my first elise after I had already done 4k _ the mileage in the new unit was therefore zero. Obviously, I admitted to this when I sold it; it was aparts failure, not fiddling.

Same thing applied when I bought my Elise. It was noted in the service manual and the previous owner explained; this was supported by the grage which carried out the work.

I've had it for two of these years, in the first 3 it cover 4000 miles!!! So I'm averaging 2-3K a year in it so far which is about my normal mileage for a "fun" car.

/just think about all those miles you can rack up when you're back on your feet properly wink

When I had the elise as a daily driver + fun I was racking up 18k miles/year. Now I'm doing about 6k in the exige as a fun/track car.

Edu stores engine running time. Compare this to milage as a sanity check. You can also see how much time the engine has spent in each rev range and if it has been buzzed.

smile yeah...I cant wait ....my usual mileage is about 25-30K a year across 2 or 3 cars, with about 60% work and 40% play ...I just love driving and going places, so Its great I have a job that requires travel...and pays for a lot of it!

I really do find it criminal though when you see these 6 yr old sportscars (of any brand) with 9K miles on em and 5 owners ...thats some expensive pence per mile !

/thats how I justify to myself blowing loads on cars - use em a lot ...makes the pence per mile cheaper if you do 100K miles in your shiny new sportscar before you flog it wink

I am starting to follow this, why buy it and not use it, the difference in price between low and medium millage on cars is not much.

Plus you actually get the enjoy the car....

So how far is it to the targa........
