My concept of market segmentation is struggling here. Lidl is for poor people and lobster is for rich people... OK so the lobster's cheap but rich people won't go to Lidl and chavs won't know what a lobster is anyway...

I think Lidl is becoming more middle class, as is Aldi supposedly - the fresh food is supposed to be more than reasonable (cost and quality). I think it may be more that the middle classes have less money these days so are becoming more lower class, but hey ho.I went to a Lidl once - it was a bit like I'd imagine a Polish jumble sale, although that was on an industrial estate in Peterborough.

Damn I wish there was one of these places near me so I can go and try it out
Worst 'I live in a posh area' post ever......I think they did a decent job of getting the middle classes into Lidl last time. Gives people the idea that it isn't just 5 types of oven chip and not a vegetable in sight.
Can't see that many foodies thinking they have all that much to do with fresh lobsters from pots in our waters. Mass "produced" Canadian lobsters that are a different species to ours.
Even if we ignore how long they have been frozen for (Canada produces so much lobster it can be years old), they are pre-cooked. Any more cooking, unless careful, will tend to dry them out. You might make a nice risotto (the lobster risotto at La Tante Claire is out of this world) or something else that requires gentle reheating and keeps it moist. Or something like Gumbo or Jambalaya.

The Lidls in Luton is in one of the poorest parts of town, yet the standard of cars in the car park is far higher than the Sainsburys that's in the posh part.
