MSA issued a temporay circuit licience to Donnington Park
yesterday for this coming weekends MGCC and Porsche meeting ...!
So curuit must be ok to race on....!!!!!

The problem is the work around the new tunnel as I understand it. a blinkig great concrete wall that you can hit... protected by.... wait for it


Sand bags..

Bikes raced on it last weekend so they must have come to an agreement with the ACU.. im doing some digging at the mo..

The situation as I understand it at the moment is they will allow racing but part of the circuit will be under a permanent yellow.. so no overtaking... so bacially a bit crap...

I've got a mate running there this weekend so will report back from there...

Bikes ran on full GP circuit with no restrictions. some spectator restrictions though.

As I understand it Donington have a two day temporary licence issued by the MSA on condition that this weekend's racing has a permanent yellow bewteen the entry to Mcleans and the exit of Coppice. The reason - that section of track is not safe and has no run off. If I was due to race there this weekend I'd be mightily p1ssed off.

Perhaps even more worryingly, there are reports that there are few/no contactors on site doing any work.

There is a British GT meeting there the week before ours, and I can't imagine that meeting going ahead with the same restrictions on the track. Im my opinion they either fix it in the next 2-3 weeks or they might as well close for business. A couple of weeks after our meeting is BTCC - again, I cant see that going ahead with part of the circuit not fit for racing.

I still can't quite believe that the MSA think it acceptable to issue a licence for a circuit that has to have a permanent yellow. You can't race for three quarters of a lap, slow down, single file, then race again every lap - its ludicrous. Either its fit for racing or it isn't - and it clearly isn't.

I hope they get it properly sorted, but I am worried about what I hear.

Same as what I've been told... aledgedy contractors and site security walked of site. only one reson that would happen if true :-(

hopefully it can all be resolved soon, as donny is a cracking circuit..


I'll admit I dont fancy hitting a concrete parapit protected by sand bags !! or ending up at the bottom of the tunnel entrance...

I Reckon if they run a race this weekend they'll run ours.... Although it part of the circuit is under permanent yellow I'll be expecting part of my entry fee back from the circuit owners !!!

From a personal point of view, I'm not that worried about competing under a yellow flag for just 1/4 of the circuit. After all I'm only a class C contender and it would give us a chance to close up the gaps. Probably a selfish attitude but we are where we are. I'll be spending about 40% of my nett annual income on racing this year so the most I can get out of it, the better. Am I going to get flamed for that? Hope not
