Do central locking control units fail?
Discussion
I have no way of currently locking my doors. Even the dash button does nothing. I have checked the fuse. Alarm is working fine apart from not locking. Interior light goes on and off no problem. So am wondering if the CL module has maybe packed up or has a loose connection or something. It's never worked since I have owned the car (silly me didnt think of locking it during my viewing)
It's an after market Clifford alarm.
Anyone know how much they are and where from, all the online TVR parts places I have looked at dont have them listed, not tried calling yet, wanted to speak to the masses first.

Just got the old test meter out and there is no power gooig to them.
I can hear relays clicking with I press dash button, so guessing it has to be something around that area that is suspect, probably the alarm or the CL module. I will give that chap a call at some point and quiz him. Very odd this and annoying.

No movement at all. I did move them by hand to make sure they were not seized.
I pulled the wires out of teh choc block, plumed in the test meter and there is no feed at all. Find it odd neither work, so in my mind it has to be something further up the chain. Probably in the most inaccesable place, grrr.
The previous owner had a new alarm fitted. It is supposed to lock the doors according to the manual, but I'm wondering if the fitter screwed it up maybe, or never even bothered as he couldnt sus out TVR electrics??
If the alarm was suspect though, wouldnt the dash button still lock the doors?
I have reset it so pretty sure it wasnt a hick up.

Zippy, I know I have a 93 Chimaera, but I went down the same road as you.
The Central Locking unit, on mine is, under the dash top, left hand side, usually next to the alarm unit.
I too had a Clifford, but it wasn't CAT 1 and it refused to "remotely lock" the doors. Pennisula replaced it with a CAT 1 and said the Clifford had been bodged as it's locking operation was not compatiable with the TVR Central Locking - switching of earths.
Long and short is that I now can use remote locking etc with the new alarm.
Suggest you check out under the dash or seek out the Specialists. The wiring of all of the above is very "Bespoke" and not in the Bible !!
Regards.
