Rear boot switch had died

Thanks goodness for the "secret" way to open the boot......managed to get some fuel in!

I've now got to figure out how to get the boot release working again.

Have taken the badge off...checked all the connector but no joy?

As an aside....just before this problem reared its head I was trying to figure out why my hazards where not working.....simple.....no fuse. Put in fuse and they work but would that have a knock on effect to the boot release?

Any advice....I'm stuck?

No fuse documented on my Mk2 for the boot solenoid. Only Fuse 6 says Hazard 12Vs and Alarm Indicator. My boot lock has been a bit temperamental recently, think I'll start carrying a screw driver in the dash.

Boy you need small hands for this job.

Found the boot solenoid....which when I press the end.....pops the boot release......bingo.

Now one of 2 options here.....either the switch is bust or the solenoid?

My bet is the soleniod....but here's my next question......how the devil do you get it out to change?

I can just about get to it with my hand standing on my head in the boot....is there a simple way to change or will it be a TVR way!!!!

Mine went the same way and found that the cable (that is attached to the secret way) was too slack as soon as I put some tension on it and hit the button the solinoid worked every time.

All fixed.....and a random solution.

and it said to check the interior "lock the doors" button wasn't pressed.....I had been cleaning the car so may have pressed it?

Got me thinking.......so locked the car by the key fob.....opened it again.......guess what.....boot switch now works perfectly again.

^^^^ would appreciate a PM on this too ! Mine can sometimes be a bit fiddly but always works eventually (for now) so don't want to mess with it until I have to.

Incidentally, where is the switch located behind the badge (ie left, right or centre) - is there a 'correct' way to push it and how much should it move ? My badge doesn't move much and sometimes responds to the centre being pushed or sometimes only the left corner will work.

Just got my Tuscan 4 weeks ago x reg great machine, sold my 4lt chim but cannot get into boot,the solenoid is having none of it, could anyone let me have the secret way in cheers

very interesting i had a sticky boot switch last week, it did open in the end a bit of a worry tho.... i would very much like to know the "secret" way of getting into the boot as i would not like to be stuck at a petrol garage! my email is [e-mail] thanks in advance.
