Has anyone had much success with heat shield wrap for exhaust manifolds or the starter motor? I was wondering if some of the products on www.agriemach.co.uk/ would help me out - my starter motor has just been cooked again.

On another note, my Chim has just started running hotter than it used to - previously 70-80 whilst cruising, 90 in traffic, now 90 all the time (but rarely over)....any ideas? I guess this was probably enough to cook the starter motor...

Yes and yes. Thermotech in my case. Big reduction in underbonnet temperatures, presumably it has helped the starter too since that hasn't failed again.

Cheers,

I was looking into wrapping my manifolds with the Agriemach wrap, but was warned against it due to 'hot spots'. Try searching the Griff site Aug/Sep last year.

I wrapped the manifolds on mine and it did reduce the heat under the bonnet, but It did start to warp the manifolds a bit. It started to pop the clip holding them on to the cat bits. It also did a good job of holding in moisture and contributing to a bit of rust coloured stuff I now find on the manifolds. Anyone know where I can get stainless ones?

Take a look at www.zertec.co.uk/3.htm for manifolds
