I have allways wanted a Lambo, and now see that they are within my reach budget wise.

Its the maintenance costs that I am unsure of. If I had a decent warranty, is £8k a year about right? or am I dreaming?

I need to build up a good set of reasons as to why I need a Gallardo, to pursuade my wife to let me!

Well I've got an older car which you would expect to cost more in annual maintenance, and I don't spend that much. Go for it I say. If it proves too much, you can always sell it, but if you don't, you will always be wondering 'what if'!

Well, thats the question. I allways buy cars intending not to put many miles on them. When I got my currant 4200 for example I put somthing like 3000 miles on it within the first couple of months! I dont have any self control!

My major problem is my wife. The last couple of cars I had, I kept for just a year and lost about £15k a go in depreciation. So I am thinking, if I were to get a Gallardo, intending to keep it for several years (as where would I go from there!?), I would be saving £15k a year on depreciation, and only spending a few grand on maintenance! So saving money! Well thats my argument with my wife anyway!

Servicing should be average of about £2K per year if you do upto 7500 miles. The smallest annual service is £900 all in.

Clutches should last 20K km + but cost £3.5K at a dealer.

Do it you'll never look back!

£8k is easily enough to cover things like a service, clutch and tyres etc....................unless you buy a dog that is.............................

Thanks for all your responses. I have never really looked into this until now. I had thaught that it would cost mega bucks to keep one on the road. It doesnt seem to be much more expensive than my 4200. Now I am gonna have to do a lot of work to convince my wife. I think its gonna be several months away, but I may start looking.

I would think the Gallardo is cheaper to maintain than your wife. Any wife.

i've had mine for 15 months and 10k miles now
costs have been £1100 for a minor service, £70 for a hub cap, and, er, a few pounds on oil
i'll ignore the £**k depreciation for now
just make sure that you don't buy a car with issues : get it inspected of course

Put that 8K in an account labelled "Galardo Servicing" and top it up every year. As we all know s&*t happens and you don't want it to spoil your everyday life;)

Just looking at servicing costs from independents and it appears that the Gallardo costs the same to service as the Murci.

Why is this? I would have thought that Gallardo servicing costs would be more in line with Ferrari 360/430 servicing costs which is around half the price.
