I heard yesterday that the LSC had been disbanded, not long after the top chief had resigned after massive budget overspends with the renovation of adult learning centres and colleges.

Does anyone know what ramifications this is going to have on the NVQ funding, and whether there are plans for a new body to be put in place with the relevant funding for NVQs?

The proposal to disband the LSC had been around for some time.

LAs are taking over their funding role.

News to me, do you have any evidence to support this?

Some time around 2007 / 2008 our Gordon (Brown) announced that LAs would be taking the entire role for funding not just school sixth-forms but post-16 courses at all institutions which had previously been funded via the LSC, something that would be subject to legislation. This was seen by some as a 'withering on the vine' first step - perhaps 'proposal' in my post was a bit strong but we'll need to wait and see.
