Of all the teams on the grid, I guess it could be said that I support McLaren & Brawn, as I support the British drivers.

Of late, Hamilton (whilst undeniably quick & exciting to watch on track) appears to be getting more headlines for misdemeanors than for his race performances. I just wonder whether sponsors will start dis-associating themselves with him, as for every positive headline there are a good ten or so negative headlines.

Undeniably, he brings a lot of revenue to the team at the moment and is the "golden boy" of the team. However, if sponsors start deserting McLaren because of the continuous negative press coverage, I wonder whether the team will either look to temper his style (& possibly stifle his performance) or look at other alternatives that are attractive to the sponsors.....

Firstly no such thing as bad publicity

Second - I believe at this stage even the general public are aware there seems to be a witch hunt against McLaren (I say this as an F1 fan, I am not a fan of Lewis or McLaren, but am fed up of the FIA's treatment of them) I believe their willingness to fight on in the face of such overwhelming corruption speaks volumes about the type of people and team Mclaren are.

In these times I believe being associated with a team that fights to survive against such adversity is seen as a good thing and IF the results come good the sponsors will be more than happy to continue.

Of late? 1 race in? hehehehe

He is WDC and F1 needs him. Do you think that anyone really cares about what Heiki or Webber are doing? The only reason Trulli has been in the headlines is because it was an incident that involved Hamilton. Lewis is knocking back sponsorship as he does not have the time. He is like the Tiger Woods,Beckham and Federer of the sport with regards to sponsorhip.

And all this FIA st makes it even sweeter when/if he wins the Championship as he did last year after all the fines/penalties and ridiculous Spa incident.

I'm sure the sponsors are loving the coverage. Extra time on news, interviews etc it all gets their name out to more people that wouldn't normally watch. They are getting more for their money.
If Hamilton was video'd snorting coke or being spanked by a Nazi guard then they would get upset but this is all good for them

In response to the OP, Not at all.

Hamilton is all over the press. He's golden and now he has a little controvasy to add to his armoury which is gaining even more public exposure.

He is the biggest name in F1 at the moment.

I believe he was referred to as a "black icon". I prefer to refer to him as the current world champion.

So no, I am pretty sure he will still make ten times more than anyone else this season from sponsorship.
