Removed the rev counter and now there is no ignition signal to the ECU. I know I should have looked at the diagram before sending the instruments away but didn't. Does anyone know if there a resistance in the rev counter or does it just act like a junction box and I can joint the relevant wires together as pushing another wise functioning wedge around is very frustrating

First off you need to be sure that any disconnected wires are not accidently shorting to ground.

If all OK, as seen in the below circuit, you could try running a flying lead from Coil Negative thro a 6800 ohm resistor to pin 1 of the ECU to bypass any disconnection, protem.

Some alternative views are that the resistor does not exist on the TVR, personally I think its good for circuit protection and interferance (en-route to the ECU) suppression.

For some stupid reason you have to have the rev counter connected for it to start. 'S just the way the ingintion system is wired.
