yipeee. My insurance company have under charged me
Discussion
Phoned my ins company the other day to barter over the renewal price. Reduced the annual mileage slightly and agreed a sum just under £600. Got the full 12 months policy through today, but they have only charged me £60 for amendments. Hope they don't realise. After twenty odd years of paying out I think I will kepp quiet and hope for the best. Do you think that I will get away with it?

Look this mug punter has had a massive accident, but guess what..... he never paid his premium. I think we'll not pay out and hope for the best.....
Don't be a mug. Pay the proper premium.Edited by Soovy on Saturday 4th April 17:26
Insurance companies just try it on all the time, it's a bleeding con.
I got a renewal letter confirming my new premium of £1380.00
One phone call to suggest that they were taking the piss reduced the premium down to £725.00. (S2 Exige 240 2008)
Apparently they had me ticked as having had insurance refused previously

ETS. Rant over, You ought to pay up as later they may claim that a percentage of the premium was not paid and therefore stiff you on a claim.

Ditto. When I spoke to Adrian Flux, they said premiums had gone up because an abnormally high number of Lotus' had been written off in the last few months. No idea how true that is...I got a renewal letter confirming my new premium of £1380.00

I've got my premium down to £800 but have had to stick it on a really low limited mileage policy

My insurance was mad, my renewal came in at 1400 quid - mega laugh. I went to one of those comparison websites and ended up with the policy for 450 quid which I was happy with. How can one company quote a grand more than the other!?! Madness, how stupid do they think we are...
Not really: The company quoting you £450 want your business at the mo. The other company (for whatever reason) have decided that your profile doesn't represent the sort of risk they are looking to take on right now so consequently quote high. Thats why it pays to shop around and remember that last year's expensive company may be this year's cheaper one!Twit said:

Because one policy will be good, and the other will charge yo a fortune for everything and argue like mad when you need to claim. You get what you pay for.

I can see what you're getting at but its not that black and white. Some companies put out ridiculous quotes for certains cars or car/driver combinations as they are simply not interested in catering to that market, but will if you're enough of a mug to take them up on it.

Agreed value payout, fully comp on any car, yadda yadda. I got what I paid for.

It's who i'm moving to once my insurance is up for renewal.
To be honest there was no real difference between the policies. Both of them are fully comp, both for the same value, both have windscreen cover and the excesses are the same. You never know what they are going to be like when you claim until you claim, but I'll take my chances if it saves a grand!
I do understand the argument Soovy is making and had there been a couple of hundred quid in it I would have stayed put, but not when the price is that different.
