Flashed but under the limit
Discussion
I was flashed by a minigatso yesterday although I was doing 45 in a 50 and abot 100ft passed it when it went off. The road was a dual carriageway, could cars on the other side have set it off?
If not have I been done or is there another check on speed like the road markings for fixed gatsos.
I know I was doing 45 cos I saw it flash earlier when I was driving the other way so I made sure that both my spedo and brand new Origin b2 were less than 50.

on a main road by me I have driven past a gatso the oppersit side at 35 and set it off. There wasn't another car in sight. I heard also that if your driving at the limit or below and someone behind you is driving a lot faster, the radar will bounce off your car hit the car behind and create false readings. Don't know how true that is....
Shame about that - I was advised that if you *see* the flash, and *know* you weren't speeding, ALWAYS try to go back for a chat. The operator makes a note of it, and most of the time you hear no more. And that's from someone pretty high up. If you're guilty, or doing serious speed, you wouldn't see it... or have the bottle to go back and argue.
I saw a camera in Colchester go off at about 30mph when the limit was 40. I've heard this is not a new thing. The cynical side of me thinks they are programmed to do this so often when they haven't caught anything for a while, just to keep the hapless motorist intimidated.
However, there always seem to be calibration marks on the road so the position of your car in the two photos will prove that you weren't breaking the limit. If they try to get £60 off you, fight it all the way to God. If there is one.

Well this was the portable suitcase on a tripod type from a van so no marks.....
Phoned them up today to try to discuss it and all I got was if you weren't speeding dont worry. When I asked if the device had another means of verifying my speed all I got back was they are very accurate! I mentioned I had two independant speed measurements (spedo & GPS) and I was certain of my speed but the record didnt change!
Best bit is on the front page of the local evening paper theres a big photo of a cop car parked on double yellows of a busy junction. Whats worse is the BiB stood with his laser and tripod next to the car in among the traffic! And the reason? The police have identified the junction as very dangerous and busy! I bet not as dangerous as it was when the photobwas taken!
