Anyone got any ideas about a problem I'm having maintaining a steady idle reading?
Car has been fantastic in first two months of ownership, but I've started to notice that the Idle speed can fluctuate +/- 100RPM (hot or cold).

This becomes noticeable whilst tying to maintain a constant speed on the motorway (ride gets a bit jerky). Could this be a big fuse issue? Any other ideas?

Cheers

NB - Its a 2003 4.2

Bad earth?

Aircon related?

Possibly the throttle butterflies out of alignment slightly - if you take off the top 'batwing' panel under the bonnet, you'll see a bar at the back of the engine that controls this adjustment - you'll need the purple pipes off to see how they're opening/closing and match them up... This is possibly the last thing to check, but its an issue we had after our Cerb went to a main dealer once in the early days... It wouldnt idle at all and doing 6k rpm at standstill to make sure it wouldnt stall got just a little tiring after a while.

I think ours was extremely out though - incidentally, later that day (having decided to get shot of the Cerb) we met a young gentleman called Julian Lane... thumbup Hopefully he'll be back soon! smile

Interesting thread - looks like mines a kangaroo 4.2 as well then.
The only thing which I notice which is different from the notes on that thread is the idle rev fluctuation. Sometimes its more pronounced than at other times, but I can be sitting at some lights and watch the rev counter jump up and down +/-100 rpm. confused

Mine does that too, have changed the big fuse but when doing this, noticed that the wiring to the alternator and starter are in a bad way, will be changing all this at the weekend.
Car just gone to Green Star for a service, will let you know if car is better when i get it back and after re-wiring it.
