The 'anything goes' subforum.
Discussion
I was thinking. There have been a few threads, which, due to incorrect material have been deleted/locked/gotten people banned or sinbinned. So, what about an anything goes sub forum, accessible to forum members of over x amount of months.
It should have a very large disclaimer stating pistonheads is not to be held responsible for anything within said sub forum and that some material is likely to offend.
I dont know if this is do-able or not but its just a suggestion.

I think there are probably enough "anything goes" forums out there, Pistonheads is primarily a motoring website. If you don't want to talk about cars then why come onto PH?
Find a website that suits your preferences IMHO or course.
That last comment isn't directed at you by any means, it's just a generalisation.

No i understand what you mean. I just thought it would be a good idea given how certain topics tend to go a stray and then pictures get binned etc etc, as instead of binning comments/pictures you could just throw it into 'anything goes' and then leave it to burn itself out. That way people dont get frustrated wondering what they missed and people dont get too much of a b
king for posting inappropriate material.
But yeah, i'll leave it at that, just an idea is all

It's not a communal w

I get PH, but when I go out with my mates and talk about cars, when the material/information dries up - we talk about our conquests or whether Bruce Lee would win in a fight with a Polar Bear. It's not a communal w

t/etc photos on,I'm also completely capable of refraining from opening a NSFW thread when the boss is hovering over my shoulder.
It's a free world. Probably.

There are no human rights.
But anyway, your chats aren't subjected to websense or any other form of net nanny.
By putting an anything goes subforum there would be a very real possibility that PH would be reclassified as 18+ thereby getting it banned from many of the places it currently resides.

Bruce Lee vs Polar Bear is allowed here I'm also completely capable of refraining from opening a NSFW thread when the boss is hovering over my shoulder.

(my £ would be on the Bear)The problem has been that recently (last 2 years or so) any thread has had the capability of going NSFW without notice; Racism has sprung up where you'd least expect it; etc
So you could be reading a thread on the most innocuous of subjects (with your Boss stood behind you) and suddenly get a NSFW picture pop up

To be fair, if you were reading PH with your boss stood behind you anyway, you're probably on dodgy ground in the intelligent stakes to start with

But as someone said above, the thirdparty filtering packages out there don't distinguish between a picture in an "anything goes" forum showing Betty Boothroyd spanking David Blunkett or an exploded diagram of a 2CV engine in the Renault forum. The former would get the whole site added to "the lists" and block the whole thing.
