Just bought a 3 year old 330i in which the connected drive has either expired or was never activated. Can any users give a) any advice on wether its worth bothering with and b) the cost as theres nothing on the bmw website about renewals?

I have activated mine but never used it. So for me I will not pay for it at the end of 3 years.

Don't bother - it got a limited google search function, weather forcast and news, only usefull if you do alot of driving in europe as it has local info on speed limits, rules of the road etc

Well I've filled the online form in and it hasn't yet asked for any card details. Just need to wait for a response from BMW.

I think my final decision will be based on the cost. £30 a year might be worth it, £30 a month definitely won't!

Used the google maps function this morning and am very impressed. Time will tell whether or not I would ever pay for the service though.

Any idea when the full internet browser function will be available in the UK?

Will it work if I drive to Germany? (not that I'm planning to but just for interest)

It is quite handy if you have the new idrive and you load your CDs into the car's memory. When it leaves the factory it has the Gracenote database loaded on it which is fine for older albums and the like but not if you get a new album which isn't on it. In this case you can still load your cd but then use connected drive to download the track listings.

Because BMW nav doesn't have full postcode search, I think the Google maps function is the best feature - pinpoint your destination on google maps and send it to the car.
