Tamiya woes, can anyone help please.............

Simple (i imagine)

I have got a new Lunchbox with the electronic speed controller, and its painted built and ready to go.

I have the receiver in, the crystals match, but what plugs into where???

I connect the battery, and get a repetitive beeping noise, and no motion or use of the streering.

Am i doing something incredibly simple wrong, or is it more sinister???

Swift answers much appreciated, my old one works fine, i have had a couple of beers, and want to race my mate in faily similar lunchboxes (old vs new)

speed controller and steering servo into reciever, battery into speed controller, motor into speed controller. Is this the answer you are looking for?

Probably a little late...but if the speedo is beeping, when all is plugged in properly, it normally means that it is not receiving a signal from the transmitter (or receiver). i.e. it reminds you that the car is turned on and likely to shoot off under a 1:1 scale car if you dont take control with your own transmitter!

Not sure. Steering servo and throttle plgged in, but all I get is a beeping noise ???

Taking it from the top.

Battery plugs into ESC (speedo) and output power leads from ESC to motor.

ESC plugs into Channel 2 on the receiver; servo plugs into Channel 1.

Check they are plugged in the right way around. You need to Google for your specific receiver and make sure the wires are in the plug in the correct sequence and the plug is fitted the right way into the receiver.

Ensure Receiver Crystal (Rx) in Receiver and Transmitter Crystal (Tx) in Transmitter.

Check Transmitter batteries either charged (if re-chargable) or good if dry cells.

If all is well this far it is possible the ESC needs to be 'Set-up'. Normally involves pushing/holding a button and going though a sequence of throttle stick movements - again Google is your friend.

If its the standard Tamiya ESC it will need setting up as per the instructions that come with it in the Lunchbox box.

I have tried everything, and all that happens when i turn it on is a red light flashing repeatedly- despite the instructions saying it should only do it once when you first turn it on.

So, its hammer time.

Unless we can see what goes where then we can't help you out. There are many on here with years (too many to remember!!) who will be able to spot the problem in seconds if a picture is posted...

Might be worth searching on the Tamiyaclubs forums for TEU BK 101 setup (or whatever your ESC is called) I think htey have guides for a lot of this stuff?

Its all sorted everyone, and thanks for your time/advice.

In the end, i took it to a local model shop, and even though i explained it wasnt purchased there, they were more than happy to sort it out for me (mind you, i have spent a small fortune in there on rc planes and the like.

So, my little lad is happy, he now has a Tamiya lunchbox, slightly darker yellow and metallic) than normal with chrome effect wheels on. Spent 3 hours yesterday playing with it.

Next job is to assemble the rising fighter that i bought, and then find a cheap place to but a grasshopper, a hornet and perhaps a frog too.

It needed a reset, involving turning it on with the set button held down, then pressed again, full forward, pressed again, full reverse, pressed again, then all fine.
Um so ashamed, the lad was about 14 and did it in about a minute!
if I knew how to post pictures,I would, just so folk could see the thing- it's great.
Alas, I can't- I can't even configure a speed controller!!

That's what I said.

It also says it in the instructions, and at just about every Google link referring to said ESC.

You mentioned your 'little lad' playing with this - how old is he ?

Mine turns 7 next month - would a lunchbox be a good way to start the r/c fun ?
