So, I'm looking for a nice watch to wear for best, I did have a nice Citizen Eco Drive but it's no longer nice as the strap is broken and it's all scratched, and I've been wearing a very cheap market special for the last few weeks. But after seeing the Tag Heuer Monaco in a TG mag I was reading I instantly thought I was going to get one; that was until I saw the 4 figure price. So, off I go looking to see how cheap I can get one, and a few replica's show up on google shopping; one that stood out was the replicazone one at £70:

https://replicazone.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.prod...

Basically I was wondering if anybody had used this website, you see I'm always wary of shopping websites I haven't used or really heard of before, but these replica's do look good; the only thing I can see that differs the replica from the original is it says "Monaco" in the Gulf logo rather than "Gulf" but for the price I could live with that.
They also seem to do replica's of the entire range of Tag Heuer watches, some of them look really good, especially the black Ayrton Senna one and the Mercedes SLR one in black, and no matter which one you choose they're all £70, and I haven't really seen any other watches in that price range that I really like, except the Eco Drive, but I already have one so I want something different.
So, has anyone used this site? Maybe not just for watches, they also seem to sell loads of other replica stuff, including Armani suits (which I shall avoid)!

Quick! Don yer flamesuit! wink

It might just be a bad picture, but the casing looks a bit naff imho - I'd invest £70-150 in a decent Seiko or something interesting second hand ... or save and get the real thing! smile

I'm not sure on the website, but I guess you'll always take a chance with a site selling replica items. What about www.topswiss.co.uk? Gulf Monaco: http://www.topswiss.co.uk/index.php?productID=855

Personally I think that one in the link looks awful.
If you are looking to spend that amount, then as said a seiko is a decent bet.

Something chrono ish, then I bought a swatch dark phoenix as a "don't mind if it gets stolen on holiday" watch.

I would recommend sticking repeated numbers of £70 heuerboy's way until he sends you something nice.

They are not replicas, they are fakes.

Topswiss repeat the same old BS. This, one supposes, is all regulated by the 'Fake Standards Authority'.

Topswiss said:
Grade 1 or AAAA replica are 99.9% exact copies of original, they even come with correct serial number at the back. Grade 1 replica watch will cost between £150 and £350, depends on the model. It will look, weigh, and feel exactly the same as original. For example at TopSwiss.co.uk we sell Grade 1 Chanel J12 replicas (as well as Breitling, Tag, Panierai etc). Our Chanel J12 replica watches come with REAL ceramic case and bracelet. If you buy a regular J12 replica it will be made of plastic and won't look exactly the same as original. Grade 1 replicas also have better quality glass which resists scratches better then a regular glass. Basically Grade 1 is the next best thing to original Swiss watch.
yikes

Ah, I had better get saving! The thing is I can't really justify spending £2k on a real one, hell, in my current position I struggled to justify £3k for a Fiat Panda, but I still want something that at least looks like the Monaco (also been watching Le Mans for the first time so kind of have a Steve McQueen thing going at the minute!) but on a budget; the one from topswiss looks pretty good but is twice the price of the one I saw, but then again it looks more accurate so is probably worth it.

And yes, it's still a fake/replica, I know that, and of course everyone I meet is going to know that, I mean, why would a guy with barely enough money to run a 1.2 Fiat Panda have a watch costing about the same as his car? - but that's not really the point, whether its just I have crap local jewellers or too distinguished taste or whatever, I can't find anything in my budget that I actually like, apart from a Monaco-alike. £150 is a hell of a lot of money to me, especially with uni coming up and all that, but seeing as all the Silverstone tickets are sold out expect the super pricey ones then I think my F1 money is going on a new "posh" watch.

Also, while I'm having this Steve McQueen thing going on, is there anywhere I can get the Gulf/Heuer racing jacket (Dakota I think?) for a decent price? Most I saw were £150+ which again is a lot of money but it looks so cool. I remember a Grand Prix Legends Catalogue I was sent had them advertised at £24.99, a figure which I now understand could very well have been a misprint, but it also said 75% off so not so sure, it said last few left so when I saw it I immedietly went on there and of course they were sold out, so now I'm looking to get one but have had to extend my budget. This is the problem, how can I try and do a Steve McQueen look with literally no money?

Dpbird90, welcome to the real world! Unfortunately nice toys cost lots of money. I know it sucks but remember everybody here was once in your situation, lusting after high end goods with very little money. Part of the fun is to save your money/earn the money to afford a new real time piece. I know they seem expensive but it is all about where your priorities are.
This may seem odd, especially on Pistonheads, but I have met lots of very well off folk who have no interest in either cars or watches. I have also met many people with an interest in only one and lots of people with an interest in both biggrin

My advice would be to find the model that you like and when you graduate from Uni, treat yourself to that something special. If you still want it that is, your tastes may change (mine do all the time!) Watches come up on the second hand market all the time so finding one will not be a problem.

Please what ever you do, try and avoid those hideous replicas, spend your money on something else be it a seiko, rotary etc There is no shame in wearing a more affordable watch brand, I do and so do many others on this forum.
smile

Going back to the original post it seems there isn't much money to go round (who has these days?) so I'd prefer you to buy a Seiko for around £100 than to waste £100 on a replica that you'll forget to take off one day in the shower and which then dissolves. There are plenty of choice of Seikos at the price which will last you years if not for life. Cheaper in the long run. Either that or put Gulf livery on the Panda!

Hmm, Gulf colours on a 1.2 Panda Dynamic. This deserves a photo shop which I will try and do today!

As for a new watch, cheers to everyone for the advice, looks like I will have to save up and get a nice watch after uni, suppose I can make do for a while, or keep putting Euromillions on just in case there's the slightest chance, then I can have a car to match!

Have a look at Oris watches; Swiss made, high quality and the majority have see-through back cases so you can watch the automatic rotor spin as you tilt the watch back and forth smile Brand new they are between £800-1400ish, but some bargains can be found in the second hand market. The latest collection seems to be in 45mm sizes only though ...

Hmm, the Oris ones do look really nice but again are quite a far bit out of my price range at the minute; but I'm working on it!

Nope, as you say they are expensive for the proper ones.

Proper ones from here

http://www.grandprix-originals.com/

And don't forget, McQueen was a Rolex man, even in the Le Mans film ;-)

He only wore the Monaco for the race scenes, on the basis that his character Delaney, was sponsored by Heuer.

Cheers for that, I could just about afford one if I don't spend too much before payday (3 weeks time) so might treat myself.
I didn't know McQueen preferred Rolex, bit too expensive for me (even though the Daytona is a beautiful watch I would want just as much as a Monaco) but the Monaco he had in Le Mans was gorgeous too, and would go with that jacket a bit better smile
