I've recently managed to make contact with a kerb which has split the bumber on my 325 Compact and I think a whole new lump of plastic is required.
Does anyone have any idea how much these things cost and if there is a place I should be calling first? I'm reluctant to give the BMW bodyshop the business after they refused to quote until they'd had the bumper off to inspect and they made me feel like I was doing them a favour by offering my business.

It's a Sport bumper with headlamp washers as per the picture (in happier, less broken times). Any advice appreciated!

Have you contacted your insurance company, you may be able to make a claim?

I doubt anyone caters for a pattern bumper for these (just as well as they are almost always a terrible fit) so I think that your local BMW dealer (parts) will be your only option. Have a look on realoem.com (put the last 7 of your VIN in) for a rough price in dollars.
Short of that, scour ebay if you want to save a few quid, but I doubt that Compact Sport bumper are something that are available in abundance.
Then find a small bodyshop and get them to quote for painting and fitting.

Thanks for the help, the price is roughly where I thought it would be without the painting costs. I did think about the insurance but my excess is £250 and I've got 8yrs NCB which I'd rather keep.
Also, paying myself should make me think twice next time I sail too close to a kerb!

Unlucky mate.

I was completey destroyed a fornt bumper on a Citroen C2 GT. Cit wanted circa £400, just for an unpainted bumper!!

I got lucky and found a guy on a chav citroen C2 forum that had max'd his up and had a stock bumper, got it for £100 and painted for another £100.

You might find that tricky with your car though.

ps...I feel ashamed to admit that I used to own a C2 GT, they are gay...I have redeemed myself with the purchase of a 540 touring though smile
