Any recommendations for a good local detailer?

How good do you want? (what is your budget?)

I am having mine done (as is blueyonder) in a week or so and we are using Dave Z from Sports Car Protection, mainly as he is probably one of the best in the country.

Its not my car, its my mates Chim 500.
Its got a few scratches that need polishing out and a good once over.
Not sure of his budget, but bearing in mind the age & value of the car I doubt he would want to spend more than £150 all in.

You will be lucky to get a proper decent job done for £150.

Bear in mind that a clay bar detail takes, or should take about 8 man hours if done properly, and a full paint correction detail to get rid of all the swirls twice that.

I'm sure that you will find someone to do the job for £150, but I don't know anyone I'm afraid.

Not a chance at 150 unless its charity work. A car the size of that you'd be expected to pay between 250 and 300 quid and it could be a day and a half.

For 150 I could make his car shiny but it wont be detailed.

Give this guy a ring

He did my Boxster S that was in great condition but had never seen polish and been through car washes all its life. The best 250 Ive ever spent.

Just look at his work.

I've been in the Pro Valeting/Detailing business around Yorkshire for the last 4 yrs following many yrs as a enthusiastic amateur, I’ve plenty of experience with Sports/Supercars particularly TVR’s having owned a Griff for the past 9 yrs, I’ve also done a lot of work for Drive Style HHC over the years.
I do pretty much anything from a basic tidy the car up Valet at around £60 to a full Detail job, price variable dependent on specific level of service required.

To discuss your individual requirements please call Mark on 01924 272727 or 07876387062 I’m sure I can tailor a service to match your needs.

Another vote for Tony Spears. Tony is both Zymol and Swissvax factory trained so I would also add him to "one of the best in the country" category. In addition, Tony seams to work a fair bit quicker than the 3 day, £1000 a time detailers. He recently fully detailed my car including Wash, Clay treatment, full paint correction, 2 coats of wax and full interior and leather treatment in 1 day! Also see Sambaman's post on the Porsche forum for reference.
