Just had the AA turn up to toe her to the garage, and there is no toe eye (that we could find!)

How do you get these things on the back of a lorry when your starter is fooked?

Tip - stand on the tow cable right by the front of the car. Balance by resting your hands on the bonnet. Your weight will stop the cable from rising up under tension and scraping the front of your car.

Make sure that they send a tilt and slide trailer rather than just a tilt as you'll scrape either the nose, arse or both I would imagine on a normal one.

I had them send a 4 wheel lift. They can just about get the mechanics around the wheels.

Ended up sending a front lifter that she went on fine in the end, was a little worried the exhaust would catch but looks like it was all ok!

Got recovered on the motorbike last week and the sent a trailer which almost slid flat to the floor. The disadvantage was that you needed twice the length of the lorry to get it down.

"We use it for low clearance cars like TVR's as well mate..." said the recovery guy.

I reminded him of that when we got home...

I'm sorry but real men don't use tow trucks smile.

What was wrong with bump starting the car and drving it to the garage to preserve the old girls dignity?

Because I have an AA warranty and need to be broken down and towed for them to fork out the £500 for a new starter motor! Did hate the sight of her being towed off cry

Is that right?

They won't replace unless you have broken down out on the road somewhere, and they don't class the starter as a wear and tear item.

Significant hurdles they make you jump eh?

Mine runs a pretty standard ride height and I've never had an issue with clearances and scrappings. How low (slammed) are peeps running their cars for this to be an issue and no before anyone asks its not riding like a 4x4 Cerb hehe

If you have home start it doesn't mater where you break down, and I think quite a few people have had starters done under the same warranty, so fingers crossed it will all be ok!
