Sadly it looks like I'm going to have to blemish my perfect "no rides from thr AA" record.

The gearchange had been getting gradually stickier and stickier, and then yesterday I went to get to car out and the clutch went flat to the floor.
I tried topping up the fluid, but it only took a thimble-full. I tried a bleed, but there was no air, and the fluid coming out was really black and dirty.

I'm assuming that means it's the seals failed in the slave cylinder. Hoping to get away with just changing the seals rather than a whole new slave. Still, £500 from the AA will go a a fair way to solving the problem fairly painlessly.

Make sure you have broken down and called the AA out first. I made the mistake of coaxing the car to the repairers before calling them out and the repair wasnt covered frown

Already fallen into that trap myself before, so I made sure the car was away from my house and totally immobile.

Still, I'm not counting my chickens until the cheque is in my hand.

Yes, thats fine Alistair, but the first (and only) time I got caught out I stupidly thought I would save the AA (and myself) the aggro of low loading the car to the garage banghead

Argh...looks like it was the master after all (odd, as it was changed a lot more recently than the slave). Which means the car has needlessly had a ride on an AA truck.

What are the odds that the slave seals will now fail in a weeks time? rolleyes

just done my salve seals with standard seals from TVR power and sods law i read there are uprated seals which do not corrode or swell with hydraulic fluid. oh well. lets see how long the standard seals hold up.

my next task is to pull the master cylinder out and check that over. any tips on removing this? difficulty rating out of 10 for location and ease of removal?

I have heard that the AA folk do frequent PH for their own purposes.......
