I believe Mods should be marked on their log ins.

Opinions?

Why do you think this smile
I think it's a good idea because it can add a bit of gravitas to a post from your good selves, if a thread needs 'pulling into line'.

Disagree

- some people can't separate a Moderator's role with their opinion.
- they should be allowed to post as people as well as Moderators smile

- why do you need to know who is a Mod, so long as you are acting within the rules, you shouldn't need know/worry about it wink

- As for the gravitas, PH should be self moderating, why would you respect a Mod asking for a thread to be toned down, and not another poster?

If a mod says 'calm down' people are more likely to listen to it and some good threads may steer back on the right course instead of being locked.

1. Hornet rider summed it up perfectly
2. They shouldn't be mods then

Eh?

We're impartial as the next person. We're not paid to be Mods, and certainly will happily have an opinion. You saying we shouldn't have an opinion if we are mods?

Basically the mods are scared of reprisal attacks by unhappy members.

They're scared that someone they upset will meet them down a dark ADSL line and assault them with an ASCII character set then leave them hanging like strange fruit, from a B-tree...

Yeah, sorry about that, I thought it needed clarifying once I'd pressed submit 'cause it was open to the wrong interpretation wink

yes Because people don't respect it when others ask for it to be calmed down, instead they insult them.

Every forum needs Mods to keep the peace, and remove offensive details (be they words or pictures!!)

I repeat the question, why the need to know who they are? It is obviously not the gravitas, as so many ignore requests/continue to post offensive details/etc...

Would you like a list you can pin next to your monitor?

That would save the coders fingers and satisfy both those who dont want a list and those that do.

Its actually a serious suggestion.

So those that want it can print it out so they know and its all done with no further input neccessary.

Judging by the way some mods are talking to members today I think it is a good idea they are named, they are representing haymarket and I think it is important to know you are being talked down to by an official of haymarket.
