Any Fencing contractors here? I need a rough idea of cost for a close board fence with concrete posts and gravel boards

The fence needs to be 1.8m high, is there a set installation cost per metre?

I need about 30 metres in total

I was just about to post something about fencing prices

I want to replace my "de facto developer" rubbish panels with closed board type (I have 10 panels) the thing I need to get around is convincing my neighbours that closed board is better and will last longer, but they don't want "odd fencing"

Mick - call this guy, he should be able to help: Colin Mills, 07931 951503., comes with a good reputation - i have him booked to make some bespoke fencing for us.

I'm having 8 panels of closeboard and concrete posts done for about £850. I guess you are looking at a sizeable amount.

Bloody hell, and to think that before the Chinese bought all the wood, a 6x6 panel was about £14 frown

I even think there is a fencing cartel going on too....as 3 contractors, 3 prices, all within £50 of each other...

I tried to get a quote today, for 60 feet of feathered closed board fencing, concrete posts, gravel boards etc. I phoned a local place: "okay mate, be round within the next two hours...."

That was at Midday. It is now midnight and I am still waiting. rolleyesrage

So, what was that tale about there being no money about, and all contractors are gagging for some work????? confusedscratchchin

Anybody recommend a fencer in Stafford area, who can also clear a humongous laurel hedge and dispose of the dead remains?

Give Eccleshall Fencing a call. Not sure if they do installation but their product is tip top and all made on site. Am sure they will l be able to recommend someone suitable.

Thanks for that. I'll give them a call, might get a better response than Stafford Fencings no-show.

I was talking to a neighbour today who said we could probably put it in ourselves with no bother, once we bought the materials.

It's very dependant on the amount of tree roots in the ground where you want to place the posts and half bury the gravel boards, and how much effort to remove what's already there.

Well, there is a humongous Laurel hedge that needs to come out first, but I don't think that'll interfere with the gravel boards etc. I'll probably just hack them off at ground level then deal with getting them out after the fence is up and privacy restored.

Not a difficult job at all to be honest just hard work if your ground is not good.

The cheapest place I've ever got fencing from to erect myself is a company called Wards Fencing.

http://sitebuilder.yell.com/sb/Displaycompany.do?p...

When you call for a quote on the materials make sure you tell them you are trade (discount available).

They have delivered to me in Stone a few times so am sure they would cover your area.

ETA Just checked their site and they do erection too.
