Some of you may feel I am being fussy, maybe I am, but take a look at this video.

http://www.robster-lobster.co.uk/pedal.AVI (14mb)

There seems to be a bit of excess travel before the engine responds, I have noticed a similar problem on another ST220 albeit much worse. I have checked the cabling on the throttle body and its as tight as a drum.

Is there anything I can do to reduce the travel and make the pedal a bit lighter? I think investigating the mechanism that connects the pedal to the cable will be my next step when it stops raining.

Half of the fun in owning a Ford is fixing all the faults, I bet the accelerator pedal on a 3 series isn't as sloppy!! laugh

Answer-sell the 220 and buy a 3 series.

I have no idea what the throttle end of the cable looks like (it might even be drive by wire, I dunno) but usually the throttle cable goes through a bracket. Where it goes through, is a hex-sectioned plastic 'nut' which can be rotated to take up any slack in the cable. If it runs out of adjustment, it is usually a sign that the cable has stretched slightly.

I have been told that the pedal is attached to a spring which connects to the throttlbe cable, strangely enough my TDCi did the same but that was fly by throttle. Can't have any sloppy pedals in a performance car though, when I investigate I'll post up my findings smile
