Any good PC Repairers around?
Discussion
My computer has decided to die (see 'puters forum for details) and its now serious. I can't do anything with it but desperately don't want to re-install XP and loose everything. Does any one know of any decent PC repairers who will do as I ask and not rip us off? Would rather travel and use someone recommended than put it with a random shop with the obligitory acne-infested oike.
Thanks
Hannah

Discreet? Don't worry about that! All my scat links come from PH anyway! Is Cobham local to Winchester?
Thanks.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble.
When I've reinstalled Windows before it has put all my old files in a different user account. I then simply transferred them across to my new account and once I'd reloaded the programs back on they were all able to be accessed again. I've had to do it a few times now - blame Acer laptop s
te.
Winchester isn't near Cobham btw

What kind of drive is it?
SATA

I had a similar experience a few weeks ago and managed to recover the lot (1.2tb) and fix the XP load on my SATA disks too.
Just takes persistance and some freeby tools off the internet...
(and lots of swearing!)
Do you know if the hardware failed or is the software corrupted?
If still struggling then i can pop down and have a look at the end of the week if you're still not sorted?
