Can anyone recommend car mats for E46 coupe?
Discussion
Something the car didn't come with, so I'm looking for a recommendation for good quality mats for my 330Ci (front only is fine - won't have people in the back very often).
There's a whole load on Ebay but I am not sure I want to trust them unless someone can recommend. I haven't checked but I assume BMW themselves will fleece me if I go there, and Halfords don't seem to have anything to fit apart from generic untailored mats which probably won't look good.
Ta,
John

I would go for genuine BMW. Mine came with some cheapo ones and they look crap, I'll be getting a genuine set ASAP. Not sure on cost but for an e36 I think they were around £60 for the deeper pile mats. OK this is more expensive than the generic Halfords ones but they look better and last well.

Another vote for genuine mats.OP, what colour do you need? There's a set of brand new beige ones - which I assume goes with a cream leather interior - on eBay for £33 buy-it-now (+ VAT and delivery).
If you need another colour, I can recommend these mats:

At £79, pricey (but does include free delivery). They are from a BMW dealer, and do appear 100% genuine and came with the proper fixing clips that screw in to the floor of the car.
(edit to say that I have a black set in my E46 320Ci and they are very good)

So are they good quality? I don't want anything that's going to slide around, so fixing is important to me. I'm tempted to get black with silver edging, the metal heel-plate and a 330Ci motif at the seat end.
£67 delivered, which is a bit more than the Ebay offerings, of course. Wonder how that compares to the BMW ones...

Update: sorry, missed those posts (started my post, went and made coffee, came back and finished it).
I'll have a look at the authentic BMW ones, figuring that if they're only a little more expensive they're probably worth it. Still quite interested in the ones recommended above though - I quite like the idea of being able to specify my own colours, though with an Arctic Silver with Black Leather coupe there's only one choice really :-)

All four of the authentic BMW ones have two fixing points at the rear of each mat (you should have holes in the carpet already, especially if the car has had mats it in at some point). They use standard looking twist lock trim fittings, but the set I bought on eBay came with a complete set of fixings anyway.Looking good. I might just have to bite the bullet, then. My car is at 103k and I've just got it, and I'm guessing the previous owner had mats but either chucked them (maybe they were tatty) or kept them for his next car...
I'm still slightly tempted by the AutoStyle mats as well - I like the fact that there's a bit of choice in the design and colours, but I wonder if anyone has had both those and the regular BMW ones and can comment on how they compare in terms of fit and durability?

Autostyle mats:

BMW don't do red ones.
Fit is excellent (they're OEM suppliers for some companies -- Morgan I think, and TVR when they were going). Only thing is that they don't have the OEM fixing mechanism, just a pair of pins that are screwed into the carpet with a socket on top, and then a screw that goes through the mat into the socket. Turned out the Z4 doesn't have the standard BMW locking mechanism, just a couple of velcro pads. So I took the velcro off the back of the BMW mats and Copydexed it to the back of the Autostyle ones.

Those on ebay are precisely the ones that I am interested in. Given that they are advertised as Genuine BMW I expect they come complete with the fixings? Cheers
The link I left for the £79.99 delivered set did indeed come with the fixing screws.Might be a little pricey, but the service was good (came within 48 hours).
Cheers,
Steve.
So got some genuine BMW mats from a guy on ebay brand new in packaging for less than 50 squid complete with screw fittings.
was definitely the right thing to do; they fit snug and feel like they will easily outlive the car given the quality.
thanks for the tips! PS anyone know whether the black washer goes on the topside or bottom side of the mat?
