Anyone on here have a small powerboat that they charter out in the Balearics?

Spent ages looking on the net for something around 40ft out of Mallorca for a June charter but the prices seem crazy (£6,000 for a week is a bit OTT)and was hoping that might be able to deal direct with someone...

£6000 a week sounds about right for a 40' boat.

The season is only 2-3 months long, so even at 100% occupancy (20 weeks a year), their revenue will be a fraction of the value of the boat, given the costs associated in running these things annually.

to be honest I don't really care about the owner's cost/occupancy, just thought in these times someone might be keen to do a deal - better to have me usng it for £4k a week rather than have it sitting there not being used at £6k a week

as above most people with a 200, 300, 400k boat will only charter out on the terms they want are will not take second best for a couple of grand, most charter through a boat shop and rely on references etc and usually include a skipper with the charter.

I figured it might be worth a try if someone was keen to make some cash. I am a qualified skipper and have chartered many times before in Med and Carribbean but in the current economic climate thought someone might want to deal direct, but obviously not smile

if you produce your rya and references and insurance then yes i suspect someone might do directly but will be difficult.

most people charter to cover the marina, lifting out and some petrol costs so e.g 10k-15k so come summer it doesnt have to work many days to pay it off
